Etsy Love: Golden Elegance

Hello everyone!
Hope you are doing great! I thought it was about time for a new Etsy Love post.

Like I've written before, I think the idea of Etsy is fantastic. I love that you can find unique sellers that sell everything from vintage masterpieces to amazing art and more.

Today I want to share the shop Aquanetta.

Aquanetta sells beautiful and handpicked vintage jewellery, accessories and clothes, but I actually fell in love with the shop because of a pair of vintage reproduction earrings. These earrings (here) look just like the ones Audrey Hepburn wore in Sabrina, and of course that had me drooling for them in an instant.

Earrings: Aquanetta (here)
Lipstick: Bésame Cosmetics (here)

I had actually been looking for earrings like these for a while and couldn't find them anywhere and now suddenly they're popping up everywhere, but I went for the ones I first found, I went for Aquanetta. I have them in gold, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to need them in silver also...

This post is not sponsored just like the rest of my Etsy Love posts. I just wanted to show you my new earrings!

Hope you will all have a splendid weekend!
Much love,

Macaron Earrings

Earrings: Made them myself, see how you can make your own here
Blouse: Book of Deer (old)

Hello all!

I'm sorry I have been absent from the blog lately. People who follow me on Instagram (@curlsncakes) will know that I haven't felt great recently. My depression and anxiety hit me quite hard these last few weeks, and I haven't been very motivated to do much of anything. I am glad to say that I am feeling much better, the sun is shining and there is a smile on my face as I'm writing this.

This will be a tiny post, where I just wanted to say I'm back, and to let you all know that I've collaborated with this really cool site called Cut Out + Keep. Together we're bringing you a DIY on how to make polymer clay macaron earrings. The ones I'm wearing in this post.

You can find the DIY and a little interview here.
If you do decide to make these earrings please let me know as I would love to see your creations!

I'll be back with an outfit post very soon.
Much love,

Woven fairy tales

I have previously shown this lovely blouse from Book of Deer on my instagram, but I feel like it needs its own blog post. This is not a sponsored post, but Book of Deer needs to be recognised for their unique clothing.

Book of Deer is a small independent brand created by the talented Eilidh Ho. And from the first time I laid my eyes on their beautiful clothes I fell in love. Their style matches well with my own, creating feminine garments with cute details and an air of whimsy. Their clothes are like fairy tales made in fabric.

Blouse: Book of Deer
Earrings: Made by me

I particularly love this Kitchen Blouse, because it makes me think of tea time (and what's not to love about that!) with its darling embroidered collar. It's such a warm colour and the embroidery adds so much character to it. I adore this blouse.

Quirky collars and doughnut earrings

I have previously mentioned that I love quirky details on garments, and what better than a cute, unique little collar?

PepaLoves are experts on quirky details, whether it's the print, the collar or the skirt of a dress, you know you'll get something unusual and slightly eccentric. Which is why I adore PepaLoves so very much!

I paired my lovely quirky-collared red dress with doughnut earrings that I've made myself. It was a perfect match!

Dress: PepaLoves (also available in mint and yellow)
Earrings: Made by myself from polymer clay

Bonjour Paris

I've always wanted to see Paris, one of my many dreams is to go one day. I'd sing Bonjour Paris like Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire did in Funny Face, and dance around the streets in happiness.

There is something about Paris that has always intrigued me, and it seems like the most wonderful and beautiful place. It's no better that many of the films I adore are set in Paris. Funny Face, An American in Paris, Amélie, A Midnight in Paris and An Education (one scene, the best scene, is in Paris). If you've seen An Education you know that Carey Mulligan's character Jenny is as enthusiastic about Paris as I am. She, as well as I, want to consume everything that has anything to do with Paris. At one point in the film she says: "And I'm going to Paris, and I'm going to smoke and wear black, and listen to Jacques Brel, and I won't speak. Ever. C'est plus chic comme ça."
Don't smoke though. Smoking kills, one cigarette is enough for potentially harmful genetic changes (more on that in another post). Be smart - don't smoke.

It is unfortunate that the 1960's Paris is the where and when that I would most like to visit. I want to get swept away by avant garde culture and listen to chanson singers and great philosophers in cafés. Regrettably I don't have a time machine or a Tardis. Anyway, "I know I will go one day", but for now this Miss Patina dress makes me feel like a Parisienne in the 60's. C'est tres chic.

Outfit:
Dress - Miss Patina (sold out in navy, but available here and here in other colours)
Beret - ModCloth (sold out, similar by Larmoni here)
