Chocolate Galaxy

Hello all,
I hope August is treating you well!

This is the first Lindy Bop dress I've worn on the blog (not my first ever though...) and I got it even though it was a wee bit big for me. I couldn't help it. Something drew me to this dress! It reminded me of something I couldn't quite put my fingers on.

I only discovered after I'd worn it what it had reminded me of. And I discovered it while scrolling through YouTube, being bored as ever. I sometimes decide to watch scenes from films that I love, and I was watching a scene from Funny Face, when in the Suggested Videos list my dress appeared. On Audrey Hepburn!

The above video is a commercial for Galaxy Chocolate and they produced these scenes by CGing (is that a word?) her face on to a lady's body. And isn't it marvellous?

I had seen this commercial ages ago and completely forgotten about it, but at the back of my mind I had registered the dress she wore in the video, and recorded it to my memory.

I was more than delighted when I realised that my dress was similar to a dress that Audrey Hepburn might've worn! I was so close to buying the navy one instead as well, but in the end decided on Chocolate Brown, what are the chances!

As for Lindy Bop - I love their garments! They have sales all the time and they really do slash the prices.

Etsy Love: Golden Elegance

Hello everyone!
Hope you are doing great! I thought it was about time for a new Etsy Love post.

Like I've written before, I think the idea of Etsy is fantastic. I love that you can find unique sellers that sell everything from vintage masterpieces to amazing art and more.

Today I want to share the shop Aquanetta.

Aquanetta sells beautiful and handpicked vintage jewellery, accessories and clothes, but I actually fell in love with the shop because of a pair of vintage reproduction earrings. These earrings (here) look just like the ones Audrey Hepburn wore in Sabrina, and of course that had me drooling for them in an instant.

Earrings: Aquanetta (here)
Lipstick: Bésame Cosmetics (here)

I had actually been looking for earrings like these for a while and couldn't find them anywhere and now suddenly they're popping up everywhere, but I went for the ones I first found, I went for Aquanetta. I have them in gold, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to need them in silver also...

This post is not sponsored just like the rest of my Etsy Love posts. I just wanted to show you my new earrings!

Hope you will all have a splendid weekend!
Much love,

Waves

Hello all you wonderful people!
Hope you are doing well. I've had a rough week, with a lot of anxiety, and a low mood. Things haven't been as good as I've wanted them to be. Anxiety comes to me at certain times, it just hits me like a big freight train that comes out of nowhere. It is very hard to deal with it, and because of my comorbidity with OCD my anxiety makes my compulsions worse, which makes it feel like I take a step back in my recovery.

What is important to remember with any disease, especially mental health disorders, is that recovery is not linear. It does not go from bad to better and then good. It goes up and down and down and up, constantly changing like waves. With chronic illnesses like a lot of mental health disorders - complete recovery and being "cured" is not a possibility and accepting that takes time. I feel like I have come to terms with OCD, anxiety and depression being a constant part of my life, but I still get weighed down when I have a dip.

I don't really know where I wanted to go with this post, I just want to be honest on the blog, and I want it to be clear that I don't always feel okay. And it's okay not to feel okay. Be kind to yourself, especially when you are feeling bad.

I am personally feeling loads better, the intensity of my anxiety has decreased. I had a great Friday evening and I just wanted to thank all those people who wrote kind and caring words to me during this hard week.

I hope you will all have a fantastic weekend! I am going to rest myself so that I am ready for next week! What are your weekend plans?

Blouse: Chicwish (old)
Petticoat: ModCloth (here)

About the outfit, real quickly. I wore my lovely red Vivien of Holloway circle skirt again (last time), but I paired it with an old batwinged blouse from Chicwish. Finally I added some Ione heels from BAIT that are both comfy and so pretty. The inspiration behind this outfit was again the character Ann from Roman Holiday played by the one and only Audrey Hepburn. This was inspired by her outfit pre-makeover.

Take care of yourselves and each other!

Much love,

"Your Sunny, Funny Face"

Hello all you lovely people!
Hope you are all having a splendid Saturday filled with joy and sunshine!

I straightened my hair to cut the ends today, but while my hair was straight I decided to try to recreate the look of Audrey Hepburn's character Jo Stockton in Funny Face. I got inspiration from the publicity photos of Jo in a black turtleneck and the scene where she dances in the café.

This post will mostly be me sharing portrait photos of myself, because if I'm honest I think I look rather pretty. I'm not quite sure if I managed to get Audrey's look. I think I look much more like Lily Collins in that photoshoot where they made her to look like Audrey, so at least I'm halfway there.

Audrey's eye and eyebrows were her most prominent features, and while I have quite big doe-eyes, my eyebrows are lacking a bit, so I decided to fill them in for these photos. I want to take this opportunity to ask the makeup-wearing people out there what they use for their eyebrows? Pencils or otherwise? I've never used an eyebrow pencil, and in these photos I filled in my brows with a black pencil eyeliner (hehe). But what should I look for in good eyebrow makeup? Help a girl out. Favourite brands/products? Please tell me in the comments.

I wish you all a beautiful weekend, go watch Funny Face if you haven't (and if you have watch it again!), you won't regret it.

Roman Holiday

Hello lovelies!
Hope you are having a fantastic weekend.

Roman Holiday from 1953 with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck is one of my favourite films. Two of my favourite actors are in it (Hepburn and Peck) and the story is lovely, happy, sad and perfect all at the same time. I always wish it would end differently, still after seeing it countless of times.

It's about a royal princess named Ann (Hepburn), that sort of elopes and goes around Rome by herself, while pretending to be someone else. A journalist (Peck) ends up helping her without knowing who she is, but later on figures it out. Naturally the pair go on to have exciting and funny adventures in the beautiful city of Rome. I really don't want to give anything away, so I'm going to end there, but it really is a lovely film and I most definitely suggest it.

Today's look is inspired by Ann while she is incognito. The film is black and white so I've tried for years to figure out what colour Ann's skirt was, finally settling on it probably being sand/beige, but I went for a full red skirt from Vivien of Holloway.

I've been a fan of Vivien of Holloway since I was in high school. I remember finding their web store and falling in love with their dresses. Well, 10 years later I finally got some items from Vivien of Holloway and I could not be happier with them. The skirt is fantastic in every way. I love the bright red colour (and Audrey wears a red skirt on the poster of Roman Holiday, so it was meant to be!), the volume and the twirlability of it!

Flats: Asos (here)

The top is also from Vivien of Holloway, and even though Ann wears a short sleeve (or actually it appears to be a long sleeve rolled up) I felt like the top had the same vibe to it. I added a pair of white gloves and black ballerina flats to give the outfit the right Audrey Hepburn feeling!

I felt ridiculously elegant in this outfit, and almost didn't want to take it off. I tired to channel the elegance and poise of Audrey. I've mentioned previously (here) how she is one of my number one style icons, and also one of my idols and heroes. So a belated Happy Birthday to the wonderful, elegant, excellent and amazing woman, Audrey Hepburn. You inspire me!

Much love,
