A New Decade

The decades I am most inspired by in terms of style are the fifties (especially late fifties) and early sixties. However lately more and more of the later sixties and also the seventies has started to creep into my wardrobe.

This new skirt from Larmoni is the latest addition to my wardrobe. I had been after a corduroy skirt in a yellowish tone for ages when I happened upon this A-line skirt. I just knew it was a match when I saw it. Evidently, it is the most "70's" item of clothing that I own. It is probably also the only seventies-inspired skirt I have, but I like it very much and I have a feeling it will become a staple in my autumn wardrobe.

What decades are you most inspired by when it comes to style? Are you someone that maybe likes to mix the decades and create a unique style?

Shirt: H&M (old), similar from ModCloth (here)
Jumper: Vila (old), similar from ModCloth (here)
Skirt: Larmoni (here)
Tights: Primark
Shoes: Ecco (here)

By the way, I've had a long discussion about the colour of this skirt. I claim it's some sort of yellow, like ochre, but my Mum and sister say that it's camel. So, I want your opinion, what colour is this skirt? Settle it once and for all.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday afternoon this early autumn day.
Much love

  1. Gorgeous doll, love the skirt. It looks like camel or something like that to me, but in pictures colours can change. But besides that, it looks marvellous on you, great shape :)) xx

    1. Thank you beautiful lady <3
Yeah, let's say it's actually yellow in reality and camel in the photos! Haha!
Thank you so much. I was a bit nervous wearing it, since I usually wear flared skirts so it felt a bit "tight" but I'm glad I did wear it after all. <3 <3

  2. Hello Mona! I love your skirt, it's one of the only 70s pieces of clothing that I like :P And I do think it's camel too, at least that's how I see it from the pictures. Your hair looks so nice in a ponytail, all bouncy! And of course your heart printed shirt is really cool.
I didn't know about the Larmoni website, it seems great! I'm going to take a look at what they have in stock :D

    1. Hello lovely Julia!
I'm usually not one for 70's pieces either, but this one caught my eye. Argh, really! Camel! Nooooo! Well I suppose it's 4 to 1 then. Haha!
Thank you so very much! My hair does have a lot of "bounce" in it.
Larmoni has really cute stuff and their shipping is quick.

  3. LOVE this look on you, Mona! Sorry, I think I'm going to have to agree with your mum and sister, your skirt looks camel colored. :) I agree with Julia, too - your hair looks adorable in a ponytail!

    1. Thank you so much beautiful Lindsey! <3
No, it's 5 to 1 now. Hahaha I'm losing this quite badly. It's more yellow in real life though (I'm sticking to that). Thank you so much, ponytails are about as complicated a hairstyle as I can go, haha!

  5. Caramel-mustard, i guess ;)

Everything about this outfit is lovely! I wish i could also wear sweaters and tights more often. So i savor the rare days i can wear one! :D

I think I'm more of the 50s lady, as well. But the 70s look pretty cool too!

    1. See, you at least mentioned the mustard, so there must be something yellowish about the skirt.
Thank you so much. I do love a good sweater, I get quite a lot of opportunities to wear them. Sometimes I wish I got more time for sundresses though.

Ah, another 50's lady ;) The 50's had such a nice silhouette with the fitted top and flared bottom. I think that's my favourite part about the 50's look. But I must admit the 70's is starting to get me ;)

      Much love

  6. Here's something I think we can all agree on: your outfit is so cute! I love that you picked out something a little different from what you usually wear, and you're totally owning it!

Speaking of the '70s, I really want to get a pair of flare jeans, but I'm a little nervous to try them because of how short I am. I might give 'em a shot this autumn, though!

    1. Aww, you are too sweet. Thank you my darling. You're making me blush :3

Oh I definitely think you should go for a pair of flared jeans! Fuck the rules. So you're short, wear them with a pair of heels. I think it'll look awesome!
