"Your Sunny, Funny Face"

Hello all you lovely people!
Hope you are all having a splendid Saturday filled with joy and sunshine!

I straightened my hair to cut the ends today, but while my hair was straight I decided to try to recreate the look of Audrey Hepburn's character Jo Stockton in Funny Face. I got inspiration from the publicity photos of Jo in a black turtleneck and the scene where she dances in the café.

This post will mostly be me sharing portrait photos of myself, because if I'm honest I think I look rather pretty. I'm not quite sure if I managed to get Audrey's look. I think I look much more like Lily Collins in that photoshoot where they made her to look like Audrey, so at least I'm halfway there.

Audrey's eye and eyebrows were her most prominent features, and while I have quite big doe-eyes, my eyebrows are lacking a bit, so I decided to fill them in for these photos. I want to take this opportunity to ask the makeup-wearing people out there what they use for their eyebrows? Pencils or otherwise? I've never used an eyebrow pencil, and in these photos I filled in my brows with a black pencil eyeliner (hehe). But what should I look for in good eyebrow makeup? Help a girl out. Favourite brands/products? Please tell me in the comments.

I wish you all a beautiful weekend, go watch Funny Face if you haven't (and if you have watch it again!), you won't regret it.

Much love,

  4. Sooo beautiful! I'd love to know what peeps use for their eyebrows as well. I've only ever used a Sonia Kashuk eyebrow pencil but I think I might have gotten it in a bit too dark of a color. lol...

  6. Wow, you look so beautiful & those are some great headshots!
I'm a natural ginger so my eyebrows are very light, almost transparent, so I usually dye them brown and fill them in with a special eyebrow pencil. I hope that helps, I'm by all means no make-up guru though :)

    1. Thank you so much!
I see. I just love ginger hair - I think it's so beautiful, but I understand that you have quite light eyebrows. What sort of a eyebrow pencil do you use?
It helps a lot, thanks so much for your input.

  7. You are SO gorgeous, Mona! I love all of these photos! So pretty! I could use some help in the eyebrow filling in department as well. I use a powder from Bare Minerals...but I don't feel it does too much. I've talked to few makeup artists who swear by this stuff: http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/brows/dipbrow-pomade-waterproof-color-brow-sculp.html but I haven't tried it myself yet.

Hope you have a lovely week, Mona!

    1. Oh Lindsey, you are too kind <3
I just ordered an eyebrow pencil from the same brand that you linked me, I'll let you know what I think. But that pomade looks amazing, maybe I should've gotten that instead of the pencil.
      Thank you, you too!

  10. You do look like Audrey! I tend to prefer a powder to fill in my brows as I can get it to look more natural, but my brows are very naturally shaped well as it is so I don't need to overdraw them or fill in empty spots.

I love these portraits. You look so pretty, and they're so classic!

Powder, really? Like a special brow powder, or do you use eyeshadow kind of thing? Yeah you do have exceptionally wonderful brows!

      Thanks! I'm blushing now... <3
