I think many people can relate in that I wanted nothing more than to blend in, not stick out and go by as unnoticeable as possible. Some life events had made me not want to catch the attention of other people, especially men. But as time went by I noticed that the dark-clad version of me, that would blend into the background, was in fact not really me. I love to wear bright colours. I love to wear dresses with bows and cute prints. So I am glad to say that I have once again found myself style-wise and this dress from La Redoute is a testament of that. It is a bright orangey red colour and it has big bows. It's got a bit of a 60's feel to it, so I paired it with a polka dotted head scarf. And I felt magnificent in it!
Can you relate to not wanting to stand out? Or do you want to stand out with your style? Have you always wanted to stand out, or did it take time/effort to get to that point? I would love to hear what you lovely people think about this matter.
Dress: Mademoiselle R by La Redoute (here)
Headscarf: Old, can't remember where I got it
Much love to all of you!
You look wonderful..you so remind me of the movie 'Curly Sue', you look like an older version of the little girl in the movie, although she'd most likely be your age now. You look wonderful and I do love red. I only have like one red dress, I've always loved them, but never got one until I won a lace dress. Suits you so much!! <3 <3
ReplyDeleteHaha thank you! <3 I'll take that as a compliment, she was a doll!
DeleteYou look amazing in red, I know exactly which dress you're talking about - you are so beautiful in it!
Red is a good colour ;) More red to the people! Haha <3 <3
I've stood out for as long as I can remember. I just always had a very different style than anyone around me. I am quite used to standing out now to the point where people look and point sometimes and I am so oblivious to it! My boyfriend and best friend love going out in public with me. They feel quite proud when all eyes are on me and my bright puffy dresses!
ReplyDeleteAlso, red is such an awesome color. Love those darling bows!!
Oh wow, I love your confidence about it! As long as you feel fine with it, I think standing out is quite a good thing! Haha, you're like a celebrity! I would say this much, if I saw you in the streets I would probably look at you too, but more in awe than anything else. You always look so amazing!
DeleteRed is an awesome colour! The bows totally got me!
I'm glad you've embraced the color red! It really does look incredible on you. I know I already said this, but that dress is the cutest--those bows are really something else.
ReplyDeleteYou know, for as long as I can remember, I don't think I've put much thought into whether or not I stood out. If I liked it, I wore it!
Oh thank you beautiful, you are too kind <3
DeleteI agree, the bows make it soooo cute :3
I love your attitude about it! It's all about you, and that's how it should be! I'm gonna try to emulate you in that :D You are amazing <3
Oh you look gorgeous, Mona! Red is definitely your color! I love your hair bow, too! As for standing out, I've gone through different phases in life where I'm OK being me and doing my own thing...but there have been unfortunate times where I did everything to blend in. That was mainly when I was working in an office environment, and I desperately wanted to stay under the radar of some rather catty ladies. But now, I think I've hit my stride in standing out and being me. Glad to see you are too! :)

Thank you so much Lindsey! Why thank you!
DeleteI can relate to that, sometimes not really caring and other times wanting to blend in. It usually has to do with where you are in life, for example I didn't want to catch the attention of guys after one guy wouldn't leave me alone. So I understand wanting to blend in at times. You definitely stand out and you always look amazing! Thank you <3
In a way, I have always dressed to standout. But I never felt that I was doing it to standout per se...more that it just felt like me to dress in a way that may be different to most people walking down the street. Often times I wish to blend in, especially when it comes to men cat-calling, but at the end of the day, some idiot saying something to me is probably going to happen regardless of the way I am dressed. And when it comes to strangers looking at me, I don't mind. I like the way I dress and I couldn't care less how others feel about it.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning in red! Also, I think it would be impossible for you to blend in! xx
I admire you for knowing and accepting that you are someone who stands out and is "different" (I say 'different' in the best possible way). I understand that that sort of attention from men is very frustrating and makes you want to blend in, but they are the ones acting like idiots, and you are probably right in that it will happen no matter what you wear. We need to fundamentally change the way some men view women and how they take the right to have opinions on women and their bodies.
DeleteI'm sure strangers only look because you look fabulous! I know you would definitely catch my eyes if I saw you walking down the street. I admire your confidence.
Thank you so much darling <3 That's very sweet of you to say. Individuality is important to me, so truly thanks for that sweet compliment.
Much love! <3
