Hello all you wonderful people!
Hope you are doing well. I've had a rough week, with a lot of anxiety, and a low mood. Things haven't been as good as I've wanted them to be. Anxiety comes to me at certain times, it just hits me like a big freight train that comes out of nowhere. It is very hard to deal with it, and because of my comorbidity with OCD my anxiety makes my compulsions worse, which makes it feel like I take a step back in my recovery.

What is important to remember with any disease, especially mental health disorders, is that recovery is not linear. It does not go from bad to better and then good. It goes up and down and down and up, constantly changing like waves. With chronic illnesses like a lot of mental health disorders - complete recovery and being "cured" is not a possibility and accepting that takes time. I feel like I have come to terms with OCD, anxiety and depression being a constant part of my life, but I still get weighed down when I have a dip.

I don't really know where I wanted to go with this post, I just want to be honest on the blog, and I want it to be clear that I don't always feel okay. And it's okay not to feel okay. Be kind to yourself, especially when you are feeling bad.

I am personally feeling loads better, the intensity of my anxiety has decreased. I had a great Friday evening and I just wanted to thank all those people who wrote kind and caring words to me during this hard week.

About the outfit, real quickly. I wore my lovely red Vivien of Holloway circle skirt again (last time), but I paired it with an old batwinged blouse from Chicwish. Finally I added some Ione heels from BAIT that are both comfy and so pretty. The inspiration behind this outfit was again the character Ann from Roman Holiday played by the one and only Audrey Hepburn. This was inspired by her outfit pre-makeover.

In between

God fortsättning!
That's what we say in Swedish between Christmas and New Year's Eve and it basically means good continuation.

These days, between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are a bit dull in my opinion. I get this post-Christmas boredom, I suppose it's because it is after the whole excitement of the food and the gift-giving and getting, and so on. And the handful of days before New Year's feel like they drag along. I'm ready for the new year to start, and I can't wait for this old one to be over!

In my boredom I decided to wear a pretty outfit consisting of the blouse from Emmy Design that I got myself for Christmas. If you follow me on instagram (@curlsncakes) you know that I was wondering if people give themselves Christmas gifts. I usually do, what about you?

I sort of like the idea of giving a gift to yourself. Because in the end it's all about love, isn't it. Sure, we give gifts to some people because we "have to", but the best gifts are the ones given to people we really care about. So why not give one to yourself? It's the ultimate expression of self-love!

Short skirts and stripes

Most of my readers are American, so Happy 4th to all of you! I know I'm a little late to the party, but in my little world in Sweden yesterday was just any old Saturday. I will however take any opportunity to don myself in red, blue and white. I even added the stripes.

The un-party girl

I'm not much of a party girl, you could say I'm the party pooper except that I most often don't attend the party at all to be able to be the "pooper" at it. I prefer small groups of people (selected people), and I prefer quiet, cozy hours in an armchair with a cup of tea and a good book or my computer. Parties are to a big part everything that I don't find enjoyable, yet at times I find parties to be fun. I only need a week or two to recharge my batteries post-party.

The things I like the most about parties are the hours before. There's an excitement in the air, and as you're getting ready you get to do fun things. I like getting dressed up, and made up. I like fixing my make-up and hair. I find it enjoyable to create an outfit that'll look fantastic. It's just, when all of that is done... I feel pretty done as well. The getting ready for the party is the most fun a party is, in my opinion. Am I the only one?

Getting dressed up is so much fun that I sometimes get dressed up and made up for no real reason, other than getting dressed up! Please tell me there are others out there that also do this...

This outfit is not from one of those "only-getting-dressed-up" days, I actually went somewhere afterwards and it was fun and very tiring, like parties are. I wore this fantastic dress from Chicwish that I had had my eyes on for months, until I finally found a reason to get it!
So - yay for parties (that gives you a reason to get new dresses) even though I'm the un-party girl.

To be(ret) or not to be(ret)...

You know when you have a perfectly fine outfit, but you add an accessory and suddenly the outfit feels so much more complete. That's the story of my life when it comes to berets. I think berets can be added to any outfit and make it a wee bit better.

But what do you do if you have a good hair day? When you have curly hair good hair days are rare and sporadic. Good hair days appear without any warning, and you feel like it's a shame to cover your hair with a hat. Does anyone else have this dilemma? To wear the beret, or not to wear the beret...

What would you do? Wear the beret or let your hair flow in the wind as you ride through the glen firing arrows into the sunset.
