Gertrude Made me Pink

Hello all,
Hope you are having a splendid summer. My summer holidays are coming to an end, and I might be grieving...

I don't have much to say today, I'm spending a lot of time on catching Pokémons and today I caught a Lapras outside of an interior design shop.

This lovely dress is made out of vintage cotton (cotton is perfect for Poké hunting), but it was made within this year. Cathi from Gertrude Made makes these lovely dresses out of new vintage fabric, and it looks like you're wearing vintage, without there being any wear or tear to the dress! I love it! I've worn Gertrude Made on the blog previously (here). I picked up this pink one in particular on one of Gertrude Made's sales. There's still one in AU size 16 available, if you love it as much as I do. You should definitely check out Gertrude Made. And you can see the lovely fabrics on her fabric instagram (@gertrudemadefabrics).

Oh and by the way, totally unsponsored post. I just really love everything Cathi of Gertrude Made makes. I follow Cathi on instagram (@gertrudemade) and constantly see dresses being shipped off across the world, that I want! But I'm just happy another gorgeous lady gets to enjoy such a beautiful and unique dress.

Fiery Red

Hello there,
Hope you are doing great. My blog has taken a backseat, and it's not because I'm busy or anything (I'm still in my holidays). No, not busy at all...

Pokémon Go has entered my life.

I recently bought a smart phone and Pokémon Go got available in Sweden just a week ago. So I am spending my time catching Pokémons. I started out with a Charmander, which for those who may not know is a lizardy/dinosaury creature with a fiery tail. It's really cute.

Are you playing Pokémon Go? Are you also stuck in that world? And which Pokémon did you start with?

When playing Pokémon Go you walk a lot, so you need wear comfortable clothes and shoes, but this outfit that I'm sharing today, even though it may not be the optimal outfit for Pokémon Go represented the Charmander quite a bit in my opinion. The vivid red skirt reminds me of Charmander's blazing tail.

Add a little rouge

Hello all!
Hope you are doing great!

I am wonderful, mostly because I have spent the majority of my time curled up with a book in my armchair. Or listening to music, watching old films and baking. Ah heaven!
And in case you were wondering; Yes, I have always been a grandmother.

I got this lovely blouse (that ties in the back, photo of that will come) at sale from ModCloth. I love the little collar it has, and you can never go wrong with polka dots, can you?

Initially I had planned to wear this blouse with these trusty trousers, pedal pushers, from Vivien of Holloway. These trousers run quite long, I had to roll up mine several times before they were the "intended" length, but I suppose there's not much to do about that when you don't even reach 1.60 m.  Then I added my plain old black flats and hoop earrings, but I felt something was missing to the outfit.

Before heading out the door I put on some red lipstick, and saw that it was quite nice with the monochrome outfit. So I quickly added some blusher (because I've learnt not to wear red lips on their own - it drains the face) and concluded that the red indeed was a success. So I grabbed my new belt from Vivien of Holloway that gives a lovely little cinch to the waistline as well (I'm in love with small waists). And then I was actually really happy with this happenstance outfit!

I only wish I'd put on some more makeup... My eyes look so bare.

Ice Cream Day

Hello,
Hope you are all doing great!

Today is National Ice Cream Day in the US, and since most of my readers are in the US I thought I'd celebrate with you by sharing an ice cream recipe.

The base of this ice cream recipe is the same as the one in this post. You only need sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream and vanilla. And then you can flavour it which ever way you want. I decided to add chopped bits of my favourite chocolate bar, Daim, in it.

Daim is a crunchy toffee bar covered in chocolate and it is delicious. I have memories of ice cream made with Daim from middle school when we used liquid nitrogen to make ice cream in chemistry class.

The internet told me that the Heath bar and the Skor bar that are available in America are similar to the Daim bar. In other news, Skor in Swedish means shoes.

Easy Daim Ice Cream

Recipe adapted from Manuela Kjeilen.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 can (397 grams) sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 dl whipping cream
  • 0.5 teaspoons ground vanilla pod
  • 1 double Daim bar (56 grams), chopped

DIRECTIONS

Place the condensed milk and the whipping cream in the freezer for 20 minutes before you start. Take out the condensed milk from the freezer and pour it into a bowl. Whip it with an electric mixer until it is a bit lighter and fluffier. Pour in the whipping cream and continue to beat until it becomes thicker. Add the vanilla and the chopped Daim, and whip some more until it is fluffy and thick. Pour into boxes or bowls and place in freezer chilling it, preferably over night.

Hope you all have a fantastic Ice Cream Day!

Summer florals

Hello there,
I hope you are all doing well.

I am wearing something as revolutionary as florals for Summer. So innovative right?

Anyway, this is one of my favourite dresses and it is handmade by Windram Design (facebook page here). It is so full and twirly. The amount of fabric is amazing, and I wore a petticoat under it and was told I look like a cupcake (which, really is the best compliment a girl can get).

I actually also wore this to one of my very important presentations that I had in front of the whole department at work. I was so nervous and wanted to look my best, and I wanted to look totally and fully "me". So this cute, floral dress felt very much like it represented me.

It has become a staple in my Summer wardrobe because it is light weight and flowy. I really really adore this dress!!

Anyway, I don't have much to say in terms of life. I'm in my holidays, it is amazing and great and I wish it would never end. How are you all doing?

Hope everything is good.

I support the Black Lives Matter movement

Hello all,
this is quite an impromptu post, and I don't believe that it tells the whole story, or even everything that I think and feel because I wrote it in less than ten minutes.

This post is in response to Adi's post The "Black Lives Matter Movement" Will Fall.
Let me start by saying: No! It will not fall! I do not believe it will fall! And I certainly do not hope it will.

The Black Lives Matter Movement is a movement I completely believe in and support.

I cannot in any way understand how people can see the Black Lives Matter movement as something that says black lives matter more than other lives. That's never what anyone said or what anyone thinks. Just like how feminists believe that women and men are equal, the Black Lives Matter movement want black people to be equal to white people. Which frankly, they are not. All lives do fucking matter, yes, no one has claimed otherwise, but the black lives apparently don't because look how they are treated!!

America has gone a long time with pushing down black people, and racism is a serious problem at the core of the country, it's at the very centre of it all. That is the only way that things like these are allowed to happen. How can a man get shot to death for being black? How is it that not everyone can see this and see how fucking wrong it is!

I'm not saying all police men and women are bad. I'm not saying they're all racists, and I'm not saying that they deserve to be hurt or killed. However, the police are abusing the power they have! The police should be held accountable for what they do. The police are there to help people, to protect and serve the community. Police officers cannot continue to behave the way they are, they cannot continue to murder black people and then not be judged for it.

The problem lies within the foundation of the society of America. You don't have to know a person to stand behind the person. I don't personally know anyone that's been killed or hurt by the police in America, but that doesn't mean I can't stand by them and protest with them when it comes to injustice and inequity. I believe that all people are equal, no matter colour, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, beliefs or anything else. And that is why this movement is so dear to me. That is why I, at the other side of the world am rooting for the Black Lives Matter movement in America.

I'm sure there is much more to say. I have more to say that I cannot get down in writing now.
Please please, continue the discussion in the comments section. Tell me what you are thinking.

If you don't support the Black Lives Matter movement, how do you justify that?

Anyway, that's all for now.
Take care of each other.
Much love,

Etsy Love: Golden Elegance

Hello everyone!
Hope you are doing great! I thought it was about time for a new Etsy Love post.

Like I've written before, I think the idea of Etsy is fantastic. I love that you can find unique sellers that sell everything from vintage masterpieces to amazing art and more.

Today I want to share the shop Aquanetta.

Aquanetta sells beautiful and handpicked vintage jewellery, accessories and clothes, but I actually fell in love with the shop because of a pair of vintage reproduction earrings. These earrings (here) look just like the ones Audrey Hepburn wore in Sabrina, and of course that had me drooling for them in an instant.

Lipstick: Bésame Cosmetics (here)

I had actually been looking for earrings like these for a while and couldn't find them anywhere and now suddenly they're popping up everywhere, but I went for the ones I first found, I went for Aquanetta. I have them in gold, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to need them in silver also...

This post is not sponsored just like the rest of my Etsy Love posts. I just wanted to show you my new earrings!

Hope you will all have a splendid weekend!
Much love,
