If you are still here that makes me very glad that you would visit this blog again. But the question was directed at winter. Are you still here Winter? How long were you planning to stay?

February is one of my favourite months even though I usually feel like I want spring to just come already. And it is definitely not spring in February.

However, there are other great things about February. Mainly edible things.
February is my birthday month, which means birthday cake. It is also the month of Valentine's Day, which I celebrate by eating some type of cake or pastry.

Shrove Tuesday (or Mardi Gras as you Americans call it) also usually falls within the month of February. In Sweden we have a special pastry for Shrove Tuesday called Semla (I'll tell you all about it in another post). And to top it all off, within the first week of February, the 5th to be exact, is Nutella Day.

Could this month get any more delicious!

So Happy February to you all! I hope this month will treat you well. Expect lots of recipes on the blog this month. But to start it all off here's an outfit post.

This is the perfect winter dress. It's a cosy material, almost sweatshirt-like, that's warm and toasty. It's got the cutest fit and the little wings are just adorable. There are wee elf houses embroidered on it which makes me smile. I paired it with knee-high socks and it really did become the comfiest outfit I've ever worn. At the same time it's really a cute look because of the minidress fit.

Lace & Elegance

"I might as well be reaching for the moon."

This dress makes me think of Audrey Hepburn for some reason. I have a feeling that she would wear it given the opportunity. Maybe I'm just looking for things to associate this dress with Audrey, but it brings to mind Audrey's lace dress that she wore when she won an Academy Award, although this one is black instead of white. It could also be that it reminds me of her because I feel like it is one of the more elegant dresses I own, and what was Audrey if not the epitome of elegance.

The earrings I'm wearing in these photos are also Audrey-esque. I had been looking for earring like these for years after seeing similar ones on Audrey in a photo shoot (see below), and for my birthday last year my mother surprised me with these perfect ones!! Thanks Mum!

I was a bit hesitant adding the photo of Audrey, because who wants to be compared to her?
Her beauty is not rivalled by anyone, but I do feel like these photos of me carry some of her grace in them. I definitely did try to channel my inner Audrey and embrace her poise.

Audrey Hepburn is one of my all time style icons (not to mention idols). She embodied a grace that was unique. Are any of you Audrey fans? Or is there another classical Hollywood cinema star that you look up to? Audrey has been the one for me since I first saw her in Sabrina. I'd love to hear about your icons in the comments.

My first Thanksgiving

Hello all,
I'm sorry the blog hasn't been so active recently, but once again life happened and I couldn't find the time to update the blog, even though my thoughts have been with all of you!

I'll just jump right into it, I was to my very first Thanksgiving dinner last week. I have never celebrated Thanksgiving, but a group of my friends (an American in the lead) decided that we should have a Swedish version of Thanksgiving. It was loads of fun hanging out with people, but the food...

How can I say this gently, I don't really understand the big deal that is made about Thanksgiving food. It might very well be because I'm a vegetarian and can't eat the main dish - the turkey. But generally I don't really like food that is made for big festive events (I'm not too fond of the Swedish Christmas food either). A friend of mine made a really good vegetarian lasagne, which I believe is not really part of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but that might have been my favourite dish on the big table of food that we had set up. I was also very pleasantly surprised by green bean casserole - very yummy indeed.

However, anyone who knows me, or even people who may only have glanced over this blog will know that the desserts were where my hopes laid. And there was plenty of it.

I made a pecan pie, the first one I've ever made, and it turned out quite well if I may say so myself. I think I might have over baked it, but that's a story for another time. We had pumpkin pie, which I looooove. We also had tarte tatin (French upside down apple pie), made by the french friend in our group. So it really was all sorts of luxury. I might have rolled out of the place being so full.

All in all, my Thanksgiving experience was very nice, and for the desserts I understand why you would want to celebrate it year after year.

As for the outfit, I really can't take the credit at all. I saw Jenna Coleman wear this pinafore from Miss Patina in Doctor Who as the character Clara Oswald and just had to have it. In the show they had paired the pinafore with a mustard yellow turtle neck, and since mustard yellow is my favourite colour I did the same!
