A Sweet Treat

A sweat treat for Valentine's day?
Why not wear it!

I'm so in love with this cupcake jumper. The moment I saw it I knew it had to be an addition to my wardrobe. It's so very "me" (she says about yet another clothing item with cupcakes on it).

Valentine's day is approaching, and I don't really celebrate it in any other way than eating some yummy treat and wearing something cute (preferably red). I'm a bit ambivalent about Valentine's day. It really is capitalist bollocks, but at the same time I sort of like a day to celebrate love.

I get bothered by people who seem to think that Valentine's day is simply for romantic love. I think it is a day where we should celebrate all kinds of love, including platonic love and self-love! Valentine's day does not have to be about being in a relationship, and it annoys me that people are anti-Vday because they are single. You can be single and celebrate Valentine's day anyway!! A life without romantic love is not a life without love.

Yes, media especially Hollywood films, seem to equal love to romantic love. It's like the value of other types of love have diminished over the years. The only love worth having is that of romantic love. But as someone who has never been in a romantic relationship - my love is worth just as much as your love, even if it is platonic! Just saying...

Now that I've done my preaching I'll go back to the outfit. I'm particularly happy with this outfit, and it feels like it is the perfect one for a day filled with treats (Vday!!). I adore the little collar clips that I got from the etsy shop, Femme De Bloom. They are so cute and I feel like the enhance the cupcake on my jumper.

I also love the small heels of BAIT footwear's Ione model. And it is surprisingly comfortable, which made me very happy to find out, as I had only bought flats from BAIT previously. I've got one pair of Ione's and one pair of Ida's, and I think the Ione's are more comfortable. What do you think? I know BAIT footwear is super popular amongst my followers on IG, so I'd love to hear which of BAIT's models you find to be the most comfortable.

  1. I love the sprinkles detailing! :D
And yes, romantic love is not the only love out there. In Mexico, Valentines day is referred to as both "Día de San Valentín" (Day of Saint Valentine) and "Día del amor & amistad" (Day of love & friendship). Most people use the second one. :)
The best part of this day is definitely the treats and adorable decorations! Hahaha

    1. So do I - it's super cute!
Exactly, I love that it's called día del amor & amistad in Mexico, that makes me happy. At least one country in the world gets it! ;D
I agree, the treats are awesome!
      Much love

  2. This outfit from top to bottom is flawless! Love how you colour-blocked the red with mint, and haha indeed that jumper is the epitome of you (actually eying it up and justifying my desire to purchase my own). Couldn't agree more with the point you made, although really, similarly with mother's day, father's day, anniversaries....why restrict the display of love and lavishing your loved ones to one measly day! As banal as this sounds, if you truly care for someone or yourself, you'd treat them well everyday rather than reserve it to the one occasion, exchanging extravagant presents and affection shouldn't be coerced or expected on that day, it should come from within, and if it does than display it then and there. These things ought to be spontaneous rather than dictated as to when and how we should express our love. Whoops, this verbose essay was more than I (and probably you) bargained for! I'm a passionate person, what can I say :).

    1. Thank you so much darling!
I did think it was very me ;) Do it! Get it... buy it... do it now... ;P
I couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous to treat someone well on just the one day, if you forget to the rest of the year. You are spot on!
I like that you're passionate! Feel free to leave passionate comments on my blog whenever you want to ;)

  3. I could not agree more with you on your assessment of Valentine's Day!! It's not just for couples! It's for everybody. I used to send Valentine's to all my women friends, and make sweet treats for everybody I worked with. I love it! I don't do it now, because it got expensive, and I'm putting everything into my business at the moment. Hoping that's going to change, and soon!

It's sad to see people so angry and embittered over a holiday that's about celebrating love. I also agree that Hollywood doesn't help any of this. Well, I buy myself my own flowers and will make my own chocolate treat. Something that features your chocolate frosting!

Maybe cupcakes in honor of that cute sweater.

    1. Oh that's soooo nice. How lovely of you to do that. Maybe I'll imitate you in that ;)
Fingers Xed for your business, hope it all goes like you want it.

I agree, it should be about the love, not about the "lack of love". I make my own treats too ;) Oh yay!
Hahha, let me know what you make :)

  4. Totally agree with you, Valentines Day represents all types of love, though I still don't see why celebrating your loved ones has to be reserved for one day... it's just media excuse for commercial gain really. That aside I absolutely loove your outfit, the colour combination is gorgeous and that jumper truly is the cutest thing! <3

    1. I agree with you. Every day should be about the loooove! Exactly, a whole lot of capitalist shit.

Oh thank you darling! Isn't the jumper awesome, I had to have it ;)

  5. "A life without romantic love is not a life without love." YES! Exactly. My friends and I often send each other valentines day cards for fun. Platonic love is just as important.

By the way that cupcake jumper is adorable!

  7. This is the cutest jumper! I love that it is a pastel colour too. And your skirt is perfect for Valentine's day! I agree with you on everything you said about it. I don't celebrate it or anything because I don't see the point haha - I love celebrating other days like mother's day and father's day, and although I'm a romantic at heart I don't like Valentine's :P
However, you are right about love - it should be about all love, not only romantic love. Love is such a deep and important feeling it shouldn't be reduced to the feeling shared by lovers, but also for friends and family! All love matters - and there's no need for a day to celebrate it as well, we should show people we care about them every day!

    Lots of love (:D)

Thanks, it's a dress underneath the jumper actually.
It is a very commercial holiday, so I'm a bit weary about it to.
I couldn't agree more with you! All love does matter, and all love is important and beautiful. Exactly!!

  9. YES! I have never thought of Valentine's day as a romantic-love-only day! Growing up, my brothers and parents and I all exchanged Valentines and chocolate, and I sent Valentines to all of my cousins; it was about telling everyone that I loved them, not just my crushes! (Although I never did that. Too shy to approach a crush!) I was always annoyed that people seem to make it out for romance only!

But anyway, you look perfect! That sweater IS so you! I love the heart collar clips, too, they're so cute!

Oh thank you! Haha, I thought so too, I just had to have the sweater. The heart clips are even cuter irl.
