Grasping at straws

There is something about autumn that makes you want to wear warm tones in clothes. Your mustards and burgundies, dark forest greens and earthy browns. That makes sense in autumn when the world turns colourful and the leaves shine in a million radiant colours, but autumn is well over where I live. The trees are bare and the ground looks naked. The warm colours have all disappeared and there is nothing but gloom left. The days turn dark in the early afternoon, and there is no snow to make the grounds a little brighter. Still I want to wear the autumn colours. Maybe I'm just grasping at straws, trying to keep autumn a little while longer when I know that it is over.

Dress: Mod Dolly (here)

This dress is an attempt at keeping autumn for a little while longer. I have been smitten with this dress from Mod Dolly for ages, and only recently did they release it and in an instant I bought it. I've been after a mustard corduroy dress for a while, and this has the comfortable shape and pretty sleeves to boot. I couldn't be happier with this dress, it's warm and nice, and enables me to hold on to my favourite season a little bit longer.

Much love!

    1. I love smock dresses too, although I discovered their appeal quite recently, but they are brilliant! And I'm definitely a sucker for collars. Thank you so much Andini <3

  3. Mustard + corduroy = autumn perfection. And of course you look 110% adorable in that dress!

I feel bad that autumn is already over in Sweden! Right now, all the trees and foliage here are right at the peak of their colors--which is beautiful to look at, but it's quite sad to think of how quickly they too will be bare. I wish autumn would last at least a month or so longer!

    1. I agree, total autumn perfection! Aww, thank you, you're too sweet <3

Well, not all of Sweden, but definitely the northern parts, because it is such a long country it's got quite varied weather from north to south. Ah, that sounds so wonderful! I hope you get the most out of your autumn! I'm with you on that, winter a bit shorter and autumn a bit longer ;D

  4. It must be getting quite cold too where you live then! The most annoying thing about winter is that the days are so short... But are we to expect beautiful pictures when you finally have snow later in the year? :D
This dress is so pretty, and looks like autumn itself. The smock shape looks really nice on you!

    1. It is quite cold. We're well below zero in the early mornings. I agree with you, and short days make photography quite bothersome, haha.
I definitely hope we get an nice snowy and white winter, I would love to post some pics of that :D
Aww, thank you Julia darling! The smock shape is so forgiving, you can eat everything haha!

  5. This is such a cute dress on you, Mona! It's absolutely perfect for fall/winter! I can't get enough of mustard this fall...I feel like I've been wearing the same colors on repeat: mustard, green, red. Fall is so fleeting, and I want it to last as long as possible too. :) I absolutely love your intro paragraph to this post, too - it's so beautiful!

Me too! It's like I'm drawn to everything mustard. I have to keep myself from buying mustard stuff because soon my whole wardrobe will be mustard, haha!
      I feel you ;D
It is unfortunately very fleeting, and over in a second it feels like. Thank you so much, that's so sweet of you. It means a lot!
