Hello there,
I truly hope you are doing good today!
I am squeezing the last out of summer and wearing my sun dresses and such for the last time this year. This lovely fuchsia dress was my first vintage dress that I bought (not the first to wear, see my other vintage dresses here and here). It's a wee bit too small, but I couldn't let it go! And so I got it from the lovely shop Simplicity is Bliss on Etsy.
I adore the colour, that is a mixture between hot pink and red - I think it's a very flattering colour on me. The dress was not deadstock, but could practically have been so. It looked completely unworn, the buttonholes look like they were just made and the fabric is crisp. The tags look brand new (Bobbie Brooks, people!!), and it is in impeccable condition. In other words, it was the perfect vintage dress to start with!

I couldn't have been happier with this fantastic dress. I love that the condition is so good that I'm not afraid to wear it. With other vintage dresses I have felt like the piece is so fragile that I'm almost scared while wearing it. This dress even had it's original belt, which is always something I look for when searching for vintage. The one thing I could complain about are the pleats - that are a pain to iron, but it's a small price to pay for the magnificently full skirt.

On another note, this is the last week before my holiday to London and I am beyond excited! We've got so much planned, but if you have any tips of things I just can't miss, please let me know in the comments!
Much love,
What a gorgeous dress (made even more so with you in it of course), love the fit and colour! Ahh we must meet up when you're in London lovely, how long will you be visiting for?

Thank you and awwww I'm blushing now! You're so sweet, thanks!
DeleteYes!!! I will be there from the 4-14 of September.
Much love
You never cease to amaze me with your outfits Mona! I've probably said it before but I'll say it again, 50's circle dresses suit you immensely! Hope you have a splendid time in London! Is there anywhere in particular you're looking forward to seeing? I know I go hankering after all the museums there (no surprise there).
ReplyDeleteOhh Sumeyye my darling, thank you!
DeleteAh, thanks! I'm just looking forward to being in London, I feel great when I'm there for some reason. And then I probably look forward to seeing the Cursed Child the most!
Museums are awesome! I love the British Museum, so we're gonna try to go there again. Any suggestions? I really want to go to the National Gallery.
Much love
This is such a pretty dress, I understand why you couldn't let it go! The colour does suit you well, it's a lovely colour to wear in the summertime. I hope you'll be blogging about your London adventures, let us know what you're up to! :D
ReplyDeleteJulia xx
Oh thank you so much beautiful Julia! Yes, it felt very good to wear it in the summer.
DeleteI'll definitely try to!! :D Good to know there's interest in reading that. Thanks!
Much love
you look beautiful Mona! ooh, i hope you have a fabulous time in London - if you get the chance, you should stop by Liberty, they have gorgeous stuff in a beautiful building
ReplyDeleteThank you lovely Beth!
DeleteOh yeah - that might be a really good idea (bad for the wallet though). I'll definitely try to squeeze it into the schedule. Thanks!
Much love
Love that dress! The color is beautiful on you!
ReplyDeleteLondon is amazing! You really can't go wrong with such a range of art museums! My tip would be see a play-it isn't as expensive as you think if you go to those kiosks for the last minute tickets. Also if you have time for a day trip, Bath is beautiful and the Roman ruins are very cool. I loved the Mad Max tour of Stonehenge and the surrounding little villages if you have time.
Can't wait to see your London photos! Oh and go to Harrod's. The pastries alone are worth it! Not to mention daydreaming through the Shoe Heaven and the incredible toy section.
Thank you so much sweetie!
DeleteIt's not my first time to London, so I do know that it is quite fantastic! Any favourite museums?
We are going to 4 plays and 3 musicals - haha! XD So our schedule is quite packed, I don't think we'll have time for a trip to Bath or Stonehenge this time around, but maybe next time!! ;)
I'm not too big a fan of Harrods though... But maybe.
Thanks for all the lovely suggestions!!
Much love
This is so nice! I love that you found it from an Etsy seller!

Thank you! I've only really bought vintage from Etsy sellers, they're good!
DeleteMuch love
This color really is amazing on you! I love a good mix between pink and red - it's kind of a perfect color. Such a great vintage find and hooray for it not feeling fragile. I hate when I'm scared to wear vintage for fear of ruining it!

Mona honey, what an awesomely pretty vintage frock! I completely agree that the colour is incredible on you. It's so cheerful and sweet, calling to mind everything from strawberry sorbet to lush carnations. What a splendid vintage find (complete with original belt).
ReplyDeleteOur wildly short lived summer (that never managed to hit full steam this year due to all the rain) already appears to be winding down, too (I remarked on such this morning to Tony), and like yourself, I'm trying to get in a few more wearings of my favourite warm weather frocks, skirts and blouses before they go into hibernation again as well.
Here's to the hope that these lovely "in between" days are sunny and pleasantly warm on both our ends.
Big hugs,
♥ Jessica
Thank you so much beautiful Jessica! <3
DeleteYes, strawberry sorbet - yum. Thank you!
Oh I'm sorry your summer wasn't all it should have been. But since you're like me and love autumn, I'm guessing you're not too sad about the changing of the seasons ;) There will always be another summer!
Yes, I wish your days are sunny and warm. I can do without the warmth ;) hehe I do like it sunny though. Thank you so much! Your comments are always so nice to read.
Much love
Wow, what a great deal you found. I love this color on you as well. The dress looks very nice on you; I don't think that it looks to small.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly do have a since of humor - love the funny little wiggle clip :)
