Flora and Fauna

Hello my lovely people!
I hope you are all doing well. Spring has sprung! Well officially it has... but there isn't much greenery going on here in my town. So while I was at home this weekend I decided to bring some green into my life by way of this beautiful dress!

I effectively fooled myself into thinking that it was indeed spring and that the weather was warm, while it was freezing and windy outside. I never left the warmth of my home, but I did go barelegged and without a cardigan to show off the cute "wings" of the dress.

This lovely dress from Book of Deer's SS16 collection does in fact have two sets of wings. The magpies embroidered on the pockets have free wings! I was so excited when I found out that the wings were free and kept playing with them.

I am really hoping for some warmer weather. I don't particularly like "warm" weather, I think it easily gets too warm, there is a minimal range where I think it is nice (about 17,3-24,8°C) but at the moment I really just want to go out in a dress without freezing. I want the blossoms to bloom and the sun to shine. The only part of spring that has sprung are the birds that are happily chirping away. I wonder how they manage when it is so cold? The birds on my dress are having a great time indoors with me anyway...

Shoes: ModCloth (here)

I hope you have a real spring where you're at and I hope you all have a beautiful rest of the day.
Much love,

  1. Adore this dress, so cute with those saddle shoes too! It's still been freezing here too though the sun came out for the majority of this week so I hope it'll continue its streak ^_^

  2. That's a very cute dress! Love the birds! :)

And I'm with ya on the weather... though probably I like it a bit warmer than you'd prefer! This weekend (as in after work stops today) it's going to be very nice with temps from 15 to 20. So I'm actually hoping to get some photo-shoots done! :D

    Have a great weekend! :)

  3. Oh my gosh I didn't get a glimpse of the shoes on instagram... they're perfect! Ditto, considering the fact that Turkey is slap bang in the mediterranian region it ought be closer to warmer weather but we're nowhere near close (just a whole lot of sunshine giving us false hope until we step outside).

    1. That's because instagram is mean with its square format, my shoes are never in the photos. Thanks so much.
Oh really? Wow, well then I hope you guys get some warmer weather too.

I really like the saddle shoes with the dress. Hahaha! Penguins! That's not a bad idea to wear penguins - I'll work on getting penguin-inspired clothing!

  6. How cute is this dress! And I love this philosophy - if greenery doesn't come to you, just get a lovely green dress! :D The wing sleeves are the cutest, and the shape adds to that cuteness I think. I hope you'll get warmer weather soon - in France we're starting to reach 15 degrees and such, not that warm yet so I can't wait for the temperatures to rise a little more - all I want is to switch my coat for something lighter :D

  9. Such a gorgeous dress, I love the colour of it and the frills on it too :) Perfect for spring, although I'd still have to wear tights with it here sadly, so cold and wet still. You look dreamy doll xx
